Recommendations:
Nordstrom has the capabilities and resources to continue to be successful for a long time. Making investments in an ever changing and developing industry takes strategic planning and careful decision making. I believe this company should continue making large investments in technology and into their new channels focusing on the customer. Many retail chains define themselves as customer focused so in order to differentiate themselves, Nordstrom needs to use their capabilities that many of their competitors don’t have to get ahead.
The highly successful US retail company should expand into more foreign markets to bring the experience of their store to more customers. The expansion into Canada and Puerto Rico are good places to test their strategic foreign planning, but other industries such as India, China, and Brazil are markets the could bring great potential for Nordstrom.
Nordstrom has been a continuously growing company and has plans for the future that illustrate more success. I would recommend anyone to invest or work for this company because I don’t think it will be seeing any problems for a long time, if ever. Their future plans are big and it will be interesting to see where they are in 5 years.
